A Family of Four this Christmas

Good morning.  I'll say up front, that this won't be a complete adoption story.  First, I'm not sure the world wide web is the place for all of it, and second it's just hard to tell in words.   Our journey of adoption is one of the most incredible experiences of our lives.  The Thanks we wish to express aren't found in the English language.  We are overwhelmed with joy and admiration for our beautiful son and his courageous biological mother.

They say pictures speak one thousand words, so I will let the pictures do most of the talking.  I would rather tell my stories in person and ask that this Christmas, you plan a get together with us (or come to one of our welcome home parties) and meet our perfect bundle to celebrate in person.

Nicholas George Titus Pfeiffer came to us from the desert southwest of southern California.  Here's the farm where he spent his time in utero.

I went to visit our birthmother before her due date to ensure we didn't miss a thing.  She and her family were thrilled to have us there for some quality time, pre-baby.

We spent a lot of time together before the baby was born, doing fun things around town, getting to know each other.  We went out to eat, went bowling and went to the duck pond several times.  The bond that will no doubt be present for the rest of our lives was beginning to be formed and we are thankful for that unique time.
Our birthmother was induced on her due date; here we are getting registered... excited expectant parents!!

December 2nd, 5:18am, 8 pounds 8 ounces of perfection!

Jubilant Big brother, Lukas arrived (with the help of Aunt Jess!) the afternoon Nicholas was born

Our birthmother signed her relinquishment of parental rights at the hospital and then Nick, Luke, Mike and I headed back to an apartment style hotel to wait for the states to process the paperwork, and give us permission to leave the birth state.  All things considered, hotel life went pretty smoothly for the one week we were there.

We were able to workout (which is actually an improvement from home ;))

Laundry was on site

Here is Lukas shading Nicholas' eyes from the nearly constant camera flash!

Lukas and Nicholas both flew home without one moment of crying!  Champion travelers, my boys.

(Which is good because just wait, this is just the beginning of our great adventures together! )

So now, we are home for Christmas.

What a wonderful season to appreciate and reflect upon all we've been given.  We cannot begin to express the magnitude of gratitude we have for our birthmother.  She'll hold one of the most special places in our hearts forever.

We also find ourselves more grateful than ever for the support of those who love us.  Our families and friends have been so good to us, throughout this journey.

Thank you so very much.
