After what seemed like forever of waiting, the adoption day finally came. They didn’t give us much advance notice, only a couple of weeks and it was on Friday, so that’s the day Mike has Cardiology clinic and can’t really get anyone else to cover for him. The plan was that the judge starts hearing cases at 8am west coast time and calls us when she gets to our case. Jayden and both parents needed to be present but Jayden didn’t have to say anything. So, he and I arrived at clinic around 10:45 our time and hung out in an exam room, eating pizza, Amish soft pretzels, and cake, while we awaiting the call. The whole thing took less than ten minutes once she called us and then, all the work had paid off and it was done! She pronounced him with his new name and he said, wait, so now I’m Pfeiffer!? It was so cute. And that was it. She formalized what we’ve always known in our hearts, that Jayden is a beloved member of team Pfeiffer!! So thankful to have him as a part of our patch of rowdy and wonderful children!!
