A few months back, with that in mind, we adopted Deodate road, from 230 to Mill Rd. We called the group Friends of Brills Run Creek. It took a while to hear back from PennDOT but once we did, the local rep has been really helpful. Initially, we planned our pickup for a few weeks back and then it had to be rescheduled for quarantine.
So this weekend we finally did it! Well, partially. It took even longer than expected. We had 5 adults (the Bakers, Stamm’s and I) and 4 kids (Bakers, Luke and Nick) on trash duty plus Mike and Jacob on sign and bag duty. And the total length is 2.5 miles but you have to walk it both ways. We got about 1 mile of it done (both sides) and it took about 3 hours. There was a lot more trash than we expected.
All in all, it was a good workout, worthwhile investment of time because the road is noticeably cleaner, and a lot of fun. Even the kids thought so (except Jacob who wasn’t allowed out of the car).
We topped it all off with a campout, campfire and sleepover in the backyard with the Baker twins!!
