Here's the most recent drop of iPhone pics of my cuties. Now that I'm officially "full term," I figured I'd better get the blog up to date. Next, I'll pack a suitcase for the hospital ;) hehe. As you'll see here, life has been full of variety. First, we have some pics from Cherrington. Lukas and Nicholas had a blast playing with all the "new" toys (stuff we packed away to 'declutter' Timber Lane) and boxes. Yes, good ole cardboard boxes, as every mom knows, there are countless hours of joy from free things in this world (you'll see further down that this also applies to puddles.) We've also been busy showing the house, but haven't found a buyer just yet. Our new home is also coming along. And there's the usual, sitting on top of the baby's head to read stories... and playing with neighborhood kids. Lately most of their play has involved water since the heat hit this week!
Lukas lost his first tooth and the tooth fairy left him a dollar. Here he is with his piggy bank figuring out if he has enough to buy anything. He did, he got a light saber.
Finally, I wanted to end with the latest and greatest from these two... Just want to see if I can summarize where they are developmentally and all, before we have one more to keep track of!! Let's see...
Here's recent quote from the biggest brother:
"God, can you make Jacob come out because I'm tired of seeing a giant belly."
Lukas: When he's not trying on some attitude for size, he's really a sweetheart of a boy and big brother. He's very helpful, does several chores with some regularity and can do most things for himself... when he wants to. He loves to wear gym shorts or track pants, you almost never see him in jeans or a collared shirt (except at church) and if he has the choice, he likes his clothes to be fluorescent colors of some sort, especially yellow. His favorite colors are green and red, he still loves puzzles and games. He's pretty good at math, he can add and subtract single and some double digit problems. He's got a few dozen sight words memorized and lots of books memorized, but he isn't doing any real reading yet. He has great listening comprehension though and doesn't mind non picture books. His friends have read and seen Harry Potter and Star Wars, so they play games revolving around those characters quite a bit, even though he hasnt' read or seen them himself. We're still pretty conservative with the movies/shows/screen time altogether. And he's definitely got the un-coolest parents on the block. (We are pretty proud of that.) He's thoughtful and defensive of his little brother (especially when Mommy is trying to discipline him) although they do their fair share of fighting. Lukas is really looking forward to meeting his baby brother; he talks to him through my belly every night and includes him in prayers regularly. He can't wait to find out what color hair baby brother will have or how tall he'll be. Lukas knows he'll have to do more for himself when that time comes, and for now he seems to be welcoming the task. His desire for independence will be well timed I think!!
Nicholas: When he's not throwing one of a dozen temper tantrums per day, you might just think he's the most delightful 18 month old out there! He's rarely sad, he's either fully joyful or downright angry, and there's very little in between. He belly laughs when tickled or if his brother does basically anything at all. Nick really adores Luke, unless he's taking a toy away that is. Nicholas is the dictionary definition of "busy!" He climbs constantly, loves to sit on countertops or any other high/potentially dangerous surface. When allowed, he constantly opens drawers in the kitchen and despite not being tall enough to see into them, he grabs out anything he can find to play with or throw in the dog bowl. He has 10 teeth and is missing his eye teeth on both the bottom and the top, so I'm using that as his excuse for chewing on everything. Seriously, this kid has eaten acorns, mulch, crayons, candles, dog food. Anything he can get his hands on generally goes in his mouth. Of course, that goes for human food too, which is good. He's a great eater and sleeper. He sleeps 11 hours a night and naps 2 hours per midday. He dislikes very few foods and eats more than his big brother at most meals. He says about 12 words pretty consistently! He follows commands, like go get your shoes, or bring me "little blue truck." And speaking of books, this kid loves to be read to. Over and over and over again, he just loves books. He is still a lover of music as well, always finding ways to make household items into percussion instruments, and dancing to some of his musical books.
I'm sure I've left some adorable detail out that I'll promptly think of later but for now that'll have to do. I can't wait to be part of the three boys club.
This life... well, it sure is blessed.
